Munich Re has teamed up with Spectrum Labs, which enables consumer internet brands to help detect toxic behaviour online, in an effort to set a new industry standard for AI-based Trust & Safety systems.

The partnership is said to offer a performance guarantee for Spectrum Labs AI-powered Trust & Safety system.

Through this tie-up, which the companies call a “landmark partnership”, Spectrum Labs can protect their customers and manage their risk.

Spectrum Labs’ AI-based Trust & Safety platform is said to flag more than 40 toxic behaviours across all languages. As a result, content moderation efforts can be lowered by 50% while detection increases ten times, noted the firm.

According to Spectrum Labs, the backing by Munich Re adds a financial component to guarantee the performance of its behaviour identification and detection solution.

Spectrum Labs CEO and co-founder Justin Davis said: “We’re proud to be the first players in the Trust & Safety tech space to receive backing from one of the world’s leading companies in insurance and reinsurance.

“Munich Re’s independent validation of Spectrum’s AI will give customers additional peace of mind that our technology limits harmful behaviours on their platform, and resources to use should any performance inconsistencies arise.

“Raising the bar for Trust & Safety systems in this way is critical because harmful behaviours erode user experience, negatively impact revenue, and can even lead to de-platforming.”

Spectrum Labs also said that Munich Re’s positive assessment of its contextual AI technology has an integral role in supporting the firm’s initiatives to shape a safer online experience.

Munich Re senior executive Greg Barats said: “Our added value in this journey once again demonstrates the potential of our product aiSure. The partnership gives Spectrum’s clients a clear signal of trust and credibility.”

Recently, Google Cloud entered into a partnership with global insurers Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) and Munich Re to provide its customers with access to specialised cyber insurance coverage.
