Root Insurance, a US-based insurance carrier powered entirely by mobile, has signed an agreement to leverage Owlcam’s video security and safety system to streamline insurance claims.
During the test phase, select Root clients will test how Owlcam services can affect driving safety and car security while concurrently streamlining the claims process.

The insurer will leverage the data from the trial period to decide discounts it will offer to consumers who use Owlcam.
Additionally, testers can also quickly send video to Root to support any claims using Owlcam’s features.
Root chief corporate development & strategy officer Kumi Walker said: “At Root, we’re dedicated to promoting driver safety.

A video clip will be instantaneously sent to the driver’s smartphone when a vehicle with Owlcam is detected with a crash or break-in.
Customers can view footage captured by the camera live within the Owlcam app. They can share the video proof with insurer as well as police arriving on the accident site.
As part of its service plan, Owlcam also offers 911 Assist.
