Willis Towers Watson has appointed Matthew Ford to the position of director. He will lead Willis Towers Watson’s London Life Consulting practice.
Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Ford worked at Prudential UK and Europe, for 12 years, where he held a variety of senior roles, including actuarial director.
He was responsible for capital optimisation and management, the successful delivery of their Solvency II IMAP application, and leading the domestication of Prudential’s Hong-Kong with-profits branch during 2013-14.
Ford brings more than 25 years of insurance experience, during which time he also spent eight years at Commercial Union and seven years at PwC, where he was director in their UK Life Practice.
In his new client-facing role within the UK life management team at Willis Towers Watson, Ford will lead and further develop the firm’s capital and risk management solutions proposition.
Ford’s appointment builds on the recent senior hires of Gary Williams, Steve Hardwick, Heloise Rossouw and Marcus Bowser as Willis Towers Watson continues to enhance its presence and impact across the insurance markets in the UK and globally.
Commenting on his new role, Ford said: “Solvency II is forcing insurers to optimise their balance sheet and manage its volatility at a time when other factors – including pensions freedom and digitisation – are causing them to adapt their business models.”
