Canadian brokerage Westland Insurance has acquired Saskatchewan-based Loewen Agencies to enhance its insurance offerings and extend its client base.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Loewen Agencies has been serving the Radville, Ceylon and Minton communities since 1947 by providing coverage for properties, vehicles, businesses and farms.

Westland Insurance president and CEO Jamie Lyons said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Loewen Agencies to the Westland team. This is an exciting step in our growth journey. Supporting rural communities across Canada with their insurance needs is an important part of our business model at Westland.

“We look forward to welcoming their talented team and to continue providing outstanding service in these new communities that they have served for decades.”

Set up in 1980, Westland Insurance is known for its advisory-based services across various insurance segments including commercial, personal, employee benefits, farm and specialty insurance.

Last month, the company also acquired the West Burlington operation of Youngs Insurance Brokers.

Youngs – Burlington West is a property and casualty brokerage that has been providing customised insurance solutions to clients in the Greater Toronto Area for more than 20 years.

In November last year, Westland Insurance purchased MSP Insurance, operating as Mitchell Sandham Pastor Insurance Brokers.

This was Westland’s third collaboration in Ontario last year, strengthening its national footprint.
