Manulife has appointed Matt Whittingham as chief digital officer for its Asia Division.

Based in Singapore, he will be responsible for delivering the company’s digital strategy across 12 markets in the region. Whittingham will report to Jason Dehni, chief marketing and distribution officer at Manulife Asia.

Commenting on Whittingham’s appointment, Dehni said: "Developing best-in-class digital capability is a core priority for Manulife as we aim to create an unsurpassed customer experience, and capitalise on the growing trends of digital adoption and innovation across Asia. Matt will play a crucial role as we endeavor to be a leading digital provider of wealth and insurance solutions."

Whittingham will also be responsible for driving Manulife Asia’s innovation programme, which focuses on identifying cutting edge technologies.

He joins Manulife from Singtel where he was the CEO of Singtel Digital Media. Prior to Singapore, he spent 4 years in Australia where he developed consumer mobile applications, delivering content and services for Vodafone and Optus customers.

A British citizen, Matt spent 8 years with Microsoft UK, where he led marketing for MSN.co.uk and later managed MSN’s editorial content, business development and search localization.
