Lockton Re, a unit of US-based independent insurance intermediary Lockton, has appointed James Mackay as the new head of Lloyd’s Capital.

Operating out of London, Mackay’s role will be integral to providing capital solutions to the company’s clients.

In his new role, Mackay will collaborate closely with David Reames and the wider team to deliver capital solutions.

Lockton Re chairman of global retrocession & property specialty, Bermuda, and market capital Robert Bisset said: “James is an excellent hire for Lockton Re and adds to our impressive expertise in the capital solutions area.

“James has a phenomenal reputation in Lloyd’s and the London Market and will be a great fit for our dynamic culture as well as our focus on providing intelligent advice and thoughtful counsel to clients and markets.

“We continue to grow the depth and breadth of our teams by selecting specific talent to further our focus on clients, markets and colleagues.”

Mackay added: “I am excited to be joining Lockton Re at a time when the Lloyd’s market is producing exceptional returns for capital providers. Lockton Re’s independence coupled with its unique culture will translate into market-beating success for our clients and markets.”

This appointment comes on the heels of Lockton’s hiring of Johan Lindvall as CEO of Lockton Sweden.

Lindvall, with 20 years’ experience in the industry, is set to take over from William L’Orange.

His experience includes leadership roles at Willis Towers Watson Sweden and involvement in insurance tech operations in northern Europe.

Earlier this year, Lockton welcomed Steven Goldenberg as executive vice-president of operations.

Goldenberg will operate from the company’s global headquarters in Kansas City, directly reporting to CEO Peter Clune.

His responsibilities will encompass strategic initiatives, talent acquisition and the development of innovative solutions to promote the company’s expansion.
