Providing a solid boost to
its distribution reach, Aviva has been appointed as a preferred
strategic partner by UK bank HSBC in the UK and Europe.
In addition, HSBC announced
that it had extended a five-year exclusive general insurance
distribution deal with Aviva signed in 2007 for home, travel and
creditor business in the UK until 2016.

Chief executive of Aviva’s UK
business Mark Hodges said: “As a leading bancassurance provider in
the UK and Europe, and an HSBC preferred partner, we are in the
unique position of being able to offer a range of market-leading
life and general insurance products.
“I am optimistic that this
product breadth will lead to further opportunities with
HSBC.”
Hodges added that
bancassurance provides significant scope growth and as a key part
of its multi-distribution strategy is an area it is focused on
growing.
Aviva already has more than
100 bancassurance partnerships.
