AXA XL has made two promotions in its US casualty division, naming Nick Goepp as head of West, excess casualty, and Lexi Bueno as head of Central, US risk management.
The two executives will report to Matthew Stitham, chief underwriting officer (CUO) for casualty in AXA XL’s Americas business.

Goepp, who is based in San Francisco, steps into the western excess casualty post formerly held by Stitham before his move to the CUO position in January 2026.
He has worked on the excess casualty West team since 2018 and brings more than ten years of underwriting experience spanning construction, energy, real estate and casualty exposures.
Bueno, operating out of Chicago, has been selected to oversee the Central US risk management team.
Over five years at AXA XL, she has taken on various roles, from underwriter to team leader. She started in insurance through client management and account servicing, gaining experience in client requirements and risk-related solutions.

In the first quarter of 2026, AXA’s gross written premiums and other revenues rose 6% from a year earlier to €37.95bn ($44.04bn), with the increase backed by expansion in its property and casualty and life and health operations.
AXA XL writes primary and excess casualty business, including general liability, commercial auto, worker’s compensation and commercial umbrella, for US and international operations in a wide range of sectors and territories.
