Munich Re London (Life Branch) has appointed Andy Batley as CEO of the UK & Irish Life Reinsurance business from 1 January 2015.
Batley will report to Andrew Rear who retains responsibility for the Asian; Australian and African life reinsurance markets together with chairmanship of Munich Re Automation Solutions Ltd and the UK group risk operation Ellipse.

Prior to his new role, Batley was commercial director for Munich Re’s UK and Irish life business. Before that he was head of global business development, life, at XL Re.
Rear said: "Andy Batley has been one of the driving forces behind the transformation in Munich Re’s UK Life performance over the last four years and I am confident that he will continue to be so with this broader remit."
