Indian insurers to provide HIV

Health insurance cover for people suffering from HIVAIDS or those vulnerable to infection such as doctors and nurses is set to become a reality in India. This follows a request issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) on 2 February 2012 to all life and general insurers to submit comments on an exposure draft within 30 days. According to the IRDA, the move to compel insurers to provide health insurance to those suffering from HIVAIDS or vulnerable to infection is in response to calls made by public bodies, government authorities and other interested parties
