Nearly three-fourth (71%) of Americans are satisfied with health coverage provided by their current employer, according to a new report published by America’s Health Insurance Plan (AHIP).

Majority of the respondents (56%) said they take into consideration coverage provided by their current employer as parameter to decide whether to stay at current job or exit.

Currently, over 180 million Americans receive coverage through their employer.

AHIP president and CEO Marilyn Tavenner said: “Employer-provided coverage is a pillar of Americans’ health and financial security. The results reaffirm that American workers and their families depend on their coverage to provide them with protection and peace of mind.”

However, 71% of the respondents said they expect cost of health care will continue to rise in near future.

While choosing a plan, majority (58%) of the respondents look for comprehensive benefits of plan, while 42% take into account its affordability, the report noted.

The respondents ranked prescription drug coverage (51%), preventive care (47%), and emergency care (47%) among the benefits that matter most.

Nearly 1,000 Americans with employer-provided coverage participated in the survey that was conducted by Luntz Global Partners on behalf of AHIP.
