Willis Re has named Jim Summers as CEO of its global specialties division, with immediate effect.

Summers will head the direction of the business across specialty classes worldwide.

He will work with the senior leadership team on the company’s global platform and long-term expansion plans.

Summers noted: “Willis Re is a forward-thinking reinsurance broking business that is being built around evolving client needs. Summers has more than four decades of experience in the Lloyd’s and international reinsurance broking markets.

He joins from Guy Carpenter, where he was deputy CEO for global specialties and global head of marine and energy specialty. He had been with the company since 2011.

Earlier in his career, Summers was CEO of Cooper Gay and Co, a role he took on in 2006.
