Retail giant Walmart has created its own health insurance business under the name agency under the name Walmart Insurance Services LLC.
Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove confirmed the creation of the insurance agency in a statement but did not share details about the plans it will sell or their pricing.
The new insurance agency will sell Medicare insurance to the customers.
According to various media reports, the retailer is currently hiring agents in the Dallas area to sell its insurance product.
The full-time licensed agents will be based in a Dallas call centre and will be able to work remotely, Wallmartsaid in job posting on an employment search website.
The launch of the insurance agency, which is expected to get more customers in its stores, is the latest addition to the retailer’s health care industry ventures.
