Swiss Re has teamed up with community-based travel platform BlaBlaCar and specialist motor insurer L’olivier Assurance to launch a new digital solution in France.
Called BlaBlaCar Coach, the digital solution is an app that coaches drivers and offers them tips on safer driving and comes with co-branded annual motor insurance, BlaBlaCar Assurance par L’olivier.
BlaBlaCar Coach is powered by Swiss Re’s technology for driver coaching and assessment, Coloride.
It can be activated when the trip starts and does not require installation of any additional equipment to analyse the behaviour of the person behind the wheel, Swiss Re noted.
Swiss Re CEO for France, Belgium and Luxembourg Walter Eraud said: “The powerful combination of BlaBlaCar’s mobility tech expertise and reach, L’olivier Assurance’s ability to devise an attractive motor product and Swiss Re’s superior scoring and analytics capabilities have the potential to transform this important segment of the motor industry.”
BlaBlaCar co-founder and CEO Nicolas Brusson said: “Creating a new and improved driving experience, the BlaBlaCar Coach app, together with its insurance offer, is a way to put Swiss Re and L’olivier Assurance’s expertise into practice at the service of drivers.”
Last week, UK-based auto insurer Marshmallow raised $85m in a Series B funding round at a $1.25bn valuation.
In August this year, French insurer AXA launched digital claims solution STeP to deliver straight-through processing for motor insurance customers.
