
Specialty reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed Eleanor Gibson as its new international chief underwriting officer.
Gibson, who will take up the role on 6 May, will be based in London.
In her new position, Gibson will lead the underwriting and portfolio management teams internationally, focusing on driving “profitable growth” and performance, the company said.
She will report to SiriusPoint International president and CEO Rob Gibbs and group chief underwriting officer Anthony Shapella.
Gibbs said: “Eleanor’s exceptional leadership and deep industry expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our underwriting capabilities across SiriusPoint International and drive growth across our global platform.
“She will collaborate closely with Anthony Shapella, as the Chief Underwriting Office continues to build a best-in-class underwriting framework and foster underwriting excellence across the global underwriting team.”

By GlobalDataWith 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector, Gibson joins SiriusPoint from AIG, where she served as credit lines chief underwriting officer.
She led global commercial underwriting for trade credit, trade finance, political risk and surety run-off.
Her previous roles include positions at Bankers Trust International, Lloyd’s, Merrill Lynch International, Radian, Rhine Re Financial, R.J. Kiln & Co. and Tokio Millennium Re.

Her appointment follows the recent announcement of James Anderson, who will join the company on 12 May as global chief pricing actuary.
Earlier in the month, SiriusPoint partnered with Irwin Siegel Agency, a New York-based managing general underwriter specialising in human and social services.
