RSA Ireland has appointed Kevin Thompson as the new CEO after receiving the go-ahead from the country’s central bank.

He succeeds Ken Norgrove, who has been at the helm for over five years.

Norgrove will now take up the role of CEO of RSA Group’s Scandinavian unit, Codan/Trygg-Hansa, replacing Patrick Bergander.

Thompson previously served as the CEO of Insurance Ireland, where he spearheaded major organisational changes. Under his leadership, the firm’s membership is said to have increased by more than 40%.

He was also the CEO of AIG Life Ireland and vice president of Multinational Group Risk Europe.

RSA UK and International business CEO Scott Egan said: “Ken is one of the most experienced and talented leaders in RSA and his tenure in Ireland has produced brilliant results. He leaves behind a great legacy in Ireland and will transfer his skills, not least as a proven leader, to our Scandinavian business.
