This initiative is spearheaded by Graham Amato, who brings more than 30 years of industry experience to the role.

Amato has a background in both Lloyd’s and company markets.

The focus of the new offering is to provide comprehensive protection for athletes around the world.

Initially, Rokstone will cover accidental death, permanent total disablement, temporary total disablement, and medical expenses and repatriation.

Operating under the special risks line of business at Rokstone, Amato will work alongside Rokstone’s special risks managing director David Boyle to deliver these services.

With the sports industry experiencing unprecedented growth in revenue and remuneration costs, the company is positioning itself to serve a diverse range of sports, including football, motorsport, tennis, and golf.

The company’s objective is to serve both professional and amateur sporting sectors, providing tailored insurance solutions.

Rokstone chief underwriting officer of commercial Gavin Dollings said: “We have lots of experience disrupting underrepresented markets with highly responsive wordings and high levels of capacity, as well as attracting the talent needed to drive growth in niche areas quickly.”

Amato added: “I have access to lots of crossover potential with multiple classes of business. Rokstone is an MGA like no other – the dynamism and momentum is infectious.”

In May 2024, Rokstone partnered with Allianz Commercial to launch a $10m facility for marine cargo business.

This collaboration is said to have enhanced Allianz’s wholesale marine distribution capabilities and granted Rokstone the authority to underwrite global direct and reinsurance cargo business from London.

It also complemented Rokstone’s existing $25m facility for its North American marine operations, established earlier this year.
