Resolution Life has created a permanent capital structure in line with its long-term commitment to the US market with the investment horizon of its institutional investors and the duration of underlying life insurance policies.

Initially, the company plans to invest $2bn in order to establish a lasting, sizeable and differentiated life insurance business through acquisitions and management of in-force portfolios.

Resolution Life chief executive officer Weldon Wilson said that the company provides a unique opportunity to insurance companies by acquiring their non-core US life insurance and annuity portfolios and making them its sole priority.

"We have a long-term view of the U.S. market and have a deep commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and building enduring relationships with our policyholders," Wilson added.
