Lloyd’s reinsurer MS Amlin has appointed Christiern Dart as its chief executive officer (CEO), effective January 2026.

The appointment is contingent on regulatory approval.

Dart has more than 30 years of industry experience including a 17-year stint at Brit.

He worked as group chief underwriting officer (CUO) at Brit for five years, having started his career there underwriting the North American property and casualty (P&C) portfolio.

Dart’s career in the reinsurance sector began in the mid-1990s with roles at CNA Re and Liberty Syndicates.

Dart said: “I am so excited to make the move to MS Amlin, and to continue the excellent work of the entire business.  MS Amlin is such a well-respected name in the market, and with the unmatched support of MSI and the wider MS&AD group, I know exciting opportunities and times lie ahead for us all.”

Mitsui Sumitomo CEO and president Shinichiro Funabiki stated: “I am delighted to announce Christiern’s appointment as MS Amlin’s new CEO. His leadership and strategic approach at Brit clearly demonstrate his talent, and I speak for the Board and the broader executive team in MSI, when I say how excited I am for him to start his new role with us and take the company to the next stage of its development.”

Dart will take over from Andrew Carrier, who has led MS Amlin as CEO for the past three years.

Upon stepping down, Carrier will continue to lend his expertise to the wider Mitsui Sumitomo (MSI) group, taking on an executive officer role to assist with the group’s international market expansion.

Funabiki added: “I must take this opportunity to thank Andrew for everything he has achieved during his tenure with us, from 2020 as CUO, and particularly the last three years as CEO.”

MS Amlin opened a new branch office in Sydney, Australia, earlier this year.
