Norway-based marine insurance provider Skuld has launched an inaugural online claims tool for automating claims processing.

The new solution is designed to allow members, clients, brokers, and crewing managers to notify all crew claims to the insurer, submit information, documents, and cost on skuld.com.

Skuld noted that the new solution will process simple claims automatically and process cash reimbursements too. More complex claims on the other hand will be transferred to claims handlers.

The solution aims to streamline the process by reducing email correspondence, deploying a task manager to keep track of outstanding tasks for the claims and keeping an eye on all notified and submitted claims and their status.

Skuld president and CEO Ståle Hansen said: “I am delighted to announce the launch of Skuld’s first online claims tool. The team have worked intensively to deliver this fully automated solution, which revolutionises the handling of people claims.

“Skuld’s position as a leading figure in the market is further strengthened with this innovation of productivity. Digital modernisation mutually benefits our members and industry participants, making the claims process more efficient and easily navigable.”

In March 2019, the insurer announced its plans to quit underwriting business from its Lloyd’s syndicate 1897.

Skuld’s move was part of its plan to boost its non-protection and indemnity (P&I) business and to augment its insurance offerings.
