Cybeta, established in 2019 by data science specialists with backgrounds in the US Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence communities, specialises in predicting and preventing cyberattacks.

Under the agreement, former members of Cybeta’s team will move across to Howden, bringing expertise in cyber threat intelligence and predictive analytics.

Howden said the acquisition is intended to deliver “faster” and “more precise” cyber risk assessments, with applications across underwriting, placement and claims.

It added that Cybeta’s technology is expected to support the development of “real-time”, tailored cyber risk profiles and improve insurability for clients facing complex cyber exposures.

The deal follows the launch of Howden’s dedicated US cyber practice in January 2026, which spans brokerage, claims, client service, cyber risk consulting, product development and strategy.

Howden Americas CEO Mike Parrish said: “Cybeta technology adds to that triple threat, deepening our capability to deliver meaningful insights with the urgency clients feel when it comes to cyber risk.

“Sector bellwethers like Juliet White and Ron Borys – who was instrumental in making this acquisition happen – are building a truly differentiated offering for clients. Much more innovation comes from these leaders and Howden’s Cyber practice.”

In a separate transaction last month, Howden agreed to acquire Hymans Robertson’s Insurance and Financial Services (IFS) consulting team, saying the deal would strengthen its capabilities in insurance actuarial and longevity consulting.

The combined unit, to be named Howden Insurance Actuarial & Longevity (Howden IAL), will bring together the Hymans Robertson IFS specialists and actuarial professionals from Barnett Waddingham, who joined Howden earlier.
