Texas-based independent insurance broker Higginbotham has combined its business with local peer Amerman Insurance Services.

Founded in 2010, Amerman Insurance is headquartered in San Antonio.

As part of the consolidation, Higginbotham will absorb eight commercial and personal property/casualty insurance and employee benefit professionals for its San Antonio practice.

The merged entity will be staffed by 38 professionals.

As part of the deal, Amerman Insurance president Matt Amerman will remain in charge of his namesake agency as a managing director.

Existing employees will work with Higginbotham managing director in San Antonio Drew Apperson as a collaborative team.

Matt Amerman said: “Partnering with Higginbotham is a natural progression because it allows us to address customers’ needs beyond coverage, including risk management, employee benefit administration and human resources.”

The San Antonio office spaces of the two firms will be merged in the coming year.

Apperson noted: “We have parallel philosophies for how we build client relationships. Our clients want the services offered by large national insurance firms, and we deliver them at the local level.

“Amerman Insurance is similarly committed to providing those services to San Antonio businesses.”

Established in 1948, Higginbotham focuses on business insurance, employee benefits, retirement plans, executive benefits, and life insurance, among others.

The firm is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and also has offices in Oklahoma, Georgia and California.
