Henry Ford Health System and Health Alliance Plan (HAP) has agreed to acquire Trusted HP – Michigan, a Detroit-based medicaid plan that serves around 9,000 members.

The acquisition of Trusted HP, formerly known as Harbor Health Plan, marks HAP’s re-entry into the state of Michigan’s Medicaid HMO service area. The area is known as Region 10 and includes Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties.

Henry Ford Health System president and CEO Wright L. Lassiter, III, said: “As both a health insurer and healthcare provider, we are uniquely positioned to offer seamless, holistic care and coverage to our Medicaid population – a fully integrated approach focusing on quality and efficiency that creates lasting value for our patients and members.”

Following completion of the transaction, Trusted HP – Michigan members will continue to consult with their existing doctor and use their services and current ID cards.

Additionally, two dozen staff of Trusted HP – Michigan will become part of the HAP team.

Health Alliance Plan president and CEO Terri Kline said: “True integration between provider and payer is extremely important to our Medicaid population.
