The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has named Debbie Gupta and Deb Jones as co-directors of life insurance and financial advice supervision.

They will replace Linda Woodall who stepped down as head of advice and life insurance at the end of 2017. Woodall assumed the role in 2015 after overseeing the FCA’s mortgage and consumer lending wing for two years from 2013.

Jones is currently serving as director of competition at the FCA. Earlier she was a director at the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) where she supervised cartel enforcement cases and policy work.

Before accepting the current role at FCA, Gupta acted an executive director at the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest).

She also held director roles at the Department for Work and Pensions, including deputy director for pension reform legislation as well as director for benefit performance.

Both the new co-directors will assume their roles in May this year.

The FCA’s life insurance and financial advice division includes the pensions and retirement income department and the retail investments department.
