Everest Insurance, a unit of Everest Re Group, has hired Vincent Vandendael from Lloyd’s to serve as its new CEO of international operations.

As CEO of Everest Insurance International, Vandendael will spearhead all aspects of Everest Insurance operations outside North America.

Vandendael most recently served as the chief commercial officer at Lloyd’s, which he joined in December 2012.

He also headed Lloyd’s global network and played a significant role in the establishment of the insurer’s Brussels subsidiary, which is expected to open next year.

Lloyd’s CEO Inga Beale said: “Lloyd’s international network has flourished under Vincent’s leadership. We have seen strong and steady growth in established territories like the US, whilst building and developing Lloyd’s presence in China, Dubai and Singapore and winning new licences for the Lloyd’s market in countries that include Colombia, India and Morocco.”

Prior to Lloyd’s, Vandendael served at Zurich Insurance Company. His tenure at Zurich spanned 17 years, during which he held various roles including the CEO of global corporate for Asia Pacific.

“Attracting world class talent such as Vincent is a hallmark of the Everest Insurance strategy. Vincent’s unique and truly global experiences, particularly throughout Asia and Europe, coupled with his outstanding industry reputation and relationships, will serve to further strengthen the Everest Insurance capabilities outside of North America. Vincent will have management responsibility for our London operation, Everest’s Lloyd’s syndicate 2786, Everest Insurance Ireland dac, and will lead our further global expansion,” Zaffino noted.
