Reinsurance broker BMS has named Genna Biddell as the managing director and head of London P&C (property and casualty) Re.

Biddell will manage the development of the London P&C reinsurance business, working alongside teams across the US, London and Bermuda.

She has more than 25 years of experience and most recently served as managing director of the North America wholesale property treaty team at Howden Re.

Prior to that, she held North American property treaty roles at both Willis Re and Aon Re.

In the new role, Biddell will report to BMS Re US president and CEO Brad Melvin.

Melvin said: “Genna is highly respected in the market and a fantastic addition to BMS. Her commercial acumen and technical knowledge of the P&C reinsurance space will be instrumental in securing the best possible outcomes for our clients. I am thrilled to welcome her to the organisation and look forward to her contributions to reinsurance, a key area of focus and growth for BMS.”

In December 2024, BMS strengthened its London energy practice by bringing on board three senior energy industry experts – Charlotte Marsh, Jack Palmer and Toby Hanington.

Last year, in November, BMS appointed Ryan Phillips as the director and practice leader for Africa, effective March 2025.

Phillips will be responsible for expanding BMS’ footprint across the African continent.

Set up in 1980, BMS has a global footprint with offices in Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the US. The company offers specialist insurance, reinsurance and capital markets advisory services.
