Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has expanded its casualty capabilities in the UK by launching energy and technical lines casualty insurance products.

Concurrently, the insurer established a dedicated London-based Energy and Technical Lines underwriting team.

BHSI head of casualty for UK and Europe Hilary Browne said: “We are pleased to expand our casualty capabilities with the deep technical risk expertise of our new team.

“Now BHSI can provide both technical Casualty and Property solutions, backed by stellar financial strength and service, to energy operations and other technical risks across the UK.”

The company’s newly established team includes Oliver Brown, who will serve as manager of energy casualty. He joins from AXA XL where he served as class underwriter, energy casualty.

Penny Wang will serve as senior energy casualty underwriter. She has 16 years of energy experience and most recently served as senior casualty underwriter at Starr Companies.

The company has promoted James Emson to the role of casualty manager, technical casualty, UK.

The will also have Jack Erritt, who will serve as technical casualty underwriter, UK. He is joining from AIG, where he held role of energy casualty underwriter.

Earlier this month BHSI launched a full line of marine insurance products in France.

Its marine offering includes inland marine, ocean cargo, stock & transit, project cargo, freight forwarders liability, ports & terminals, and subsea insurance.

In October 2020, BHSI rolled out Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability and Professional Indemnity (PI) policy for customers in the UAE and throughout the Middle East.

Prior to that, it launched  Defence Base Act (DBA) insurance globally and Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) Insurance in France.
