AXA XL has named Paul Greensmith as the new CEO of Catlin Underwriting Agencies and XL Catlin Insurance Company UK, replacing Paul Jardine who will leave the group later this year.

In the new role, Greensmith will be tasked with developing the strategies of the two entities.

At the same time, he will also serve as the regional leader of UK in project mode, with responsibility for defining AXA XL’s UK activities.

In 2014, Greensmith joined Catlin’s London underwriting hub in the role of co-chief underwriting officer. He was later named as the UK country leader and director of London market wholesale upon XL Group’s takeover of Catlin Group last year.

Early in his career, Greensmith worked at RSA in various roles such as group strategy manager, and strategy and marketing director for the UK commercial division. He also led the multinational and speciality lines division at the firm.

Besides, Greensmith worked as the manager of the strategy and planning department at Lloyd’s.
