AXA Hong Kong and Macau, a unit of France’s AXA, has reached an exclusive alliance with HK Express, introducing a travel insurance offering for the airline’s customers.

This collaboration aims to enable passengers to secure coverage through a “one-click” option when booking flights on HK Express’s official website.

Called HK Express Travel Insurance, it is a bespoke product from AXA, designed to enhance the travel experience for HK Express customers.

Its features include medical expenses coverage up to HK$500,000 ($65,000), and for baggage and personal belongings, a protection of HK$6,000, which doubles to HK$12,000 for trips to Japan. This includes HK$2,000 specifically for mobile phones.

Additionally, the insurance plan provides rental car excess cover of HK$3,000, which doubles for Japan travels.

Notably, the package includes complimentary coverage for children travelling with their parents, as well as free virtual medical consultation and medicine delivery services in select Japanese cities.

The partnership extends across all destinations served by HK Express, catering to the travel insurance needs for routes such as Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

As part of the alliance, HK Express unveiled an A321neo aircraft that features AXA’s logo.

AXA Hong Kong and Macau chief general insurance officer Kenneth Lai said: “As AXA’s inaugural Hong Kong-based airline partner, the partnership allows HK Express customers to effortlessly book flights and buy travel insurance through its all-in-one platform. Looking ahead, we will continue working with HK Express to explore products with comprehensive coverage and bring innovative solutions to the market.

HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao said: “Travel insurance is a crucial component of the travel experience, and we are thrilled to partner with AXA, a leader in the insurance market, to offer comprehensive travel insurance solutions. For the first time, HK Express is displaying our partner’s brand on our aircraft livery, signifying our long-term strategic partnership with AXA.”
