Goldman Sachs-backed Aston Lark has acquired Irish insurance broker A.R. Brassington (Brassington Insurance), a subsidiary of the ARB Group, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1929 by Arthur Rochelle Brassington, Brassington Insurance is one of the oldest insurance brokerages in the country.

Cathal O’Brien and Paul Carty lead the broker, which offers direct and wholesale insurance solutions to business clients and customers.

The acquired firm offers travel insurance to individuals through its online travel trading platform along with a full range of insurance solutions to businesses.

Additionally, Brassington Insurance’s wholesale arm specialises in professional indemnity solutions for insurance brokers.

In July, Aston Lark acquired Principal Insurance Ireland, which caters to the Irish motorcycle market and has a 30% market share.

Last week, the chartered insurance broker snapped up Essex Insurance Brokers to augment film and visual arts insurance capabilities.
