Allstate Insurance Company of Canada has collaborated with Pembridge Insurance Company and Pafco Insurance Company (ACG) to launch ‘Stay at Home Payment’ of more than $30m.

The measure is intended to aid its personal auto insurance customers amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

All Allstate, Pembridge and Pafco customers holding an active automobile policy will qualify for Stay at Home Payment. They will receive a one-time payment of nearly 25% of their monthly auto premium by cheque in May.

Allstate Insurance Company of Canada president and CEO Ryan Michel said: “Our commitment is to put our customers first, and to support them with strength, experience and care in these challenging times.  The payment is to help relieve the restrictions, changing business practices, and financial burden imposed on our customers.

“We’ve seen less driving, for example, and this is expected to continue throughout April and into May.  We recognise that with fewer people driving, there are fewer collisions on our roads.  As a result, we are giving more than $30m dollars back to our customers. It’s simply the right thing to do.”

Meanwhile, ACG is working closely with the customers to provide prevention and protection services to help relieve the financial burden caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The insurer is offering flexibility in payments through a deferral process. This enables customers to pause their insurance payments for up to 90 days.

In addition, the company is extending insurance coverage for customers who use their private vehicles to deliver medicine, food and groceries for commercial purposes.

The standard personal auto insurance policies do not provide this coverage.
