They can also tailor their cover by adding protection suited to their personal requirements and travel plans.

Available options include cruise, snow sports and adventure travel cover, higher cancellation limits, longer trip durations and lower excess levels.

For partners, Metaportal offers a configurable framework for designing travel insurance programmes at segment level.

Partners can determine the benefits included, how the cover is structured and how generous it is for different customer groups.

“The Metaportal is underpinned by a MACH-aligned architecture designed for scalable deployment, reusable integration and future expansion into new products and industries,” the company said in a statement.

MACH stands for microservices, application programming interface-first, cloud-native and headless. It is an architectural approach for building flexible, scalable and modern digital platforms.

The company said the launch follows regulatory reforms in Australia that impact interchange revenue and the economics of card payments.

Many financial institutions have been prompted to review how they fund and deliver customer benefits.

Allianz Partners is the business-to-business-to-consumer insurance and assistance arm of Allianz Group.

It provides international health and travel insurance, mobility services and assistance solutions.

The company distributes through partners’ businesses, intermediary channels and directly to customers under the Allianz, Allianz Global Assistance and Allianz Care brands.

Allianz Partners Australia travel executive head Damien Arthur said: “Today’s travellers want cover that reflects how, where and why they travel, while businesses want solutions that build stronger customer relationships and support long-term loyalty.

“The Metaportal gives partners the flexibility to provide a preset level of cover while allowing customers to tailor their protection through optional upgrades and additional benefits.”

Earlier this month, Allianz Partners and Waymo entered into a collaboration to develop insurance, claims and safety research solutions supporting Waymo’s service expansion across Europe.
