In his new role, Murphy will be responsible for managing strategic business partner relationships that result in more effective prioritization of technology and business improvements.

Murphy will also direct alignment between IT initiatives and the overall organizational requirements, providing better results for the customer. He will report to the vice president of business engagement, Patrick Christiansen.

Murphy began his professional career in 1995 with LifeUSA in Minneapolis where he held various roles in new business processing and IT quality assurance before the company was acquired by Allianz Life in 1999.

After the acquisition, Murphy held roles in software development until 2009, when he took his most recent role as an applications manager. Prior to his promotion, Murphy was responsible for a team of IT solution engineers who led application development and managed multiple technology platforms to support divisions across the company.

Commenting on the appointment, Christiansen said: "Murphy has 18 years of experience giving him a great understanding of the needs of our business partners and the IT strategy. His leadership will continue to help drive strategic alignment while making our business operations more effective."
