US-headquartered health insurer Aetna has
appointed Marco Bannerman as head of global partner sales and Mike
Lewars as head of UK intermediary sales.

The appointments come at a time when the
provider is aiming to build its international private medical
insurance business.

Based in the UK, Bannerman will direct the
team managing Aetna’s key global broker partnerships. Lewars will
lead the team focusing on the UK broker market. .

David Healy, Aetna’s general manager for
Europe, said: “These appointments are an important step in our
drive to grow our business in the UK and continental Europe.”

Bannerman previously worked in multiple sales
leadership roles at Bupa, managing its corporate client portfolio.
Meanwhile, Lewars has over 16 years experience in healthcare,
having worked for Bupa and Cigna, and most recently as principal
consultant for UK employee benefit consultancy Xafinity
Consulting.

These appointments follow the recent arrival
of David Healy as Aetna’s general manager for Europe, and Nic Brown
as European sales director.
