The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 11.03% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the insurance industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.24% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.06% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.1% in October 2021, registering a 5.33% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 26.09% share, a decrease of 33.33% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.15%, registering a 73.33% rise from September 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 13.66%, down 15.38% over the previous month.
Top five insurance companies in South Africa’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of South Africa’s insurance industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Sanlam posted 97 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 16.38% over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 47 jobs and a 7.84% drop. Old Mutual with 12 IT jobs and Rand Merchant Investment Holdings with 5 jobs, recorded a 20% flat growth and a 66.67% flat growth.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.66%, down by 23.48% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.3% share, registered an increase of 8.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.04% share, up 23.53% over September 2021.
