October 2021 has seen an increase of 0.03% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 9.94% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 51.99% in October 2021, an 8.14% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 17.24% in October 2021, marking a 5.13% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.64% in October 2021, a 36.18% rise from September 2021.

Top five insurance companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 23.25% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s insurance industry during October 2021 over previous month.

UnitedHealth Group posted 540 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 18.92% over the previous month, followed by Anthem with 493 jobs and a 53.58% growth. Centene with 459 IT jobs and The Allstate with 127 jobs, recorded a 190.51% rise and an 11.4% rise, respectively, while USAA recorded a 25.18% decline with 104 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s insurance industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 94.75% share in October 2021, a 0.47% increase over September 2021. Canada featured next with a 4.61% share, down 5.32% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.6% share, a drop of 14.81% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.21%, up by 1.06% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.91% share, registered a decline of 8.79% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.38% share, up 16.57% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.49%, recording a month-on-month decline of 52.5%.
