September 2021 has seen an increase of 0.68% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 9.44% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.32% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 55.13% in September 2021, a 4.22% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.82% in September 2021, marking a 14.06% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.99% in September 2021, a 17.76% drop from August 2021.

Top five insurance companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 4.05% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s insurance industry during September 2021 over previous month.

UnitedHealth Group posted 547 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 8.1% over the previous month, followed by Anthem with 318 jobs and an 11.91% drop. Dai-ichi Life Holdings with 191 IT jobs and USAA with 137 jobs, recorded a 14.73% drop and a 13.29% drop, respectively, while Markel recorded a flat growth with 133 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s insurance industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 94.12% share in September 2021, an 8.14% decrease over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 5.11% share, down 3.21% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.73% share, a drop of 31.58% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.08%, down by 12.58% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.45% share, registered a decline of 6.77% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.39% share, up 10.49% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.07%, recording a month-on-month growth of 40.74%.
