Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 54.59% in April 2022, a 35.87% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 23.14% in April 2022, marking an 8.16% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.35% in April 2022, a 23.81% rise from March 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 26.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry during April 2022 over previous month.

Sanlam posted 145 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered an increase of 47.96% over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 48 jobs and a 9.43% drop. Old Mutual with 26 IT jobs and Cigna with 3 jobs, recorded a 4% rise and a 200% rise, respectively, while Allianz recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry

South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 95.2% share in April 2022, a 28.24% increase over March 2022. Sudan featured next with a 0.87% share, flat growth over the previous month. United Arab Emirates recorded a 0.87% share, a growth of 100% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.02%, up by 36.96% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 36.68% share, registered a growth of 18.31% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.3% share, up 11.76% over March 2022.
