October 2021 has seen a decrease of 9.34% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 10.46% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 44.97% in October 2021, a 6.17% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 25.44% in October 2021, marking a 36.76% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 15.38% in October 2021, a 73.33% rise from September 2021.

By GlobalDataDatabase and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 13.61% in October 2021, a 17.86% decline over the previous month.
Top five insurance companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.63% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Sanlam posted 97 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 16.38% over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 47 jobs and a 7.84% drop. Old Mutual with 13 IT jobs and Rand Merchant Investment Holdings with 5 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 66.67% rise, respectively, while New York Life Insurance recorded a 42.86% decline with 4 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s insurance industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s insurance industry IT hiring activity with a 95.27% share in October 2021, a 10.56% decrease over September 2021. Lebanon featured next with a 2.37% share, down 42.86% over the previous month. Sao Tome and Principe recorded a 0.59% share, a flat growth compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.03%, down by 24.39% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.95% share, registered a growth of 5.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.43% share, up 23.53% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.59%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
