Canada’s insurance industry registered a 6.1% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.09% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the insurance industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.3% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 1.36% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s insurance industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s insurance industry in April 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 57.5% in April 2022, registering a 12.2% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 19.38% share, a decrease of 6.06% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 10.63%, registering a flat growth from March 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 10%, up 45.45% over the previous month.

Top five insurance companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 32.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s insurance industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

Intact Financial posted 52 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a rise of 4% over the previous month, followed by Sun Life Financial with 47 jobs and a 95.83% growth. Swiss Re with 12 IT jobs and Aviva with 9 jobs, recorded a 140% flat growth and a 350% flat growth, respectively, while Munchener Ruckversicherungs-Gesellschaft(Munich Re) recorded a decline of 53.33% with 7 job postings during April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.75%, down by 5.05% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.63% share, registered an increase of 28.13% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 15.63% share, up 66.67% over March 2022.
