Australia’s insurance industry registered a 16.2% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.18% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the insurance industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.89% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.08% in March 2022, registering a 39.02% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 21.15% share, a decrease of 35.29% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 17.31%, registering a 47.06% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.62%, down 44.44% over the previous month.

 

Top five insurance companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 13.11% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s insurance industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

Insurance Australia Group posted 15 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 11.76% over the previous month. The British United Provident Association with 12 IT jobs and Zurich Insurance Group with 6 jobs, recorded a 25% decline and a 50% growth, respectively, while QBE Insurance Group recorded a decline of 28.57% with 5 job postings during March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.15%, down by 45.59% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25% share, registered a decline of 13.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.85% share, down 83.33% over February 2022.
