The US insurance industry registered a 6.6% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 2.62% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the insurance industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.42% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.35% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.53% in July 2021, a 13.62% drop over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 19.93% share, decline of 5.84% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 11.85%, registering a flat growth from June 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 11.6%, down 11.39% over the previous month.

Top five insurance companies in the US IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 15.75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US insurance industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

UnitedHealth Group posted 297 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 19.51% over the previous month, followed by Anthem with 283 jobs and a 1.8% growth. Centene with 184 IT jobs and USAA with 157 jobs, recorded a 15.98% drop and an 8.28% increase, respectively, while The Allstate recorded a 41.89% decline with 154 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.69%, down by 8.73% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 24.76% share, a decline of 13.91% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.02% share, down 12.17% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.53%, recording a month-on-month increase of 23.53%.
