Insurance firm Sompo has expanded its partnership with Collinson International, a firm specialising in airport experiences and the operator of SmartDelay, to introduce Sompo Smart Delay service in three additional Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets.  

The markets include Singapore, mainland China, and Malaysia, following the earlier collaboration in Thailand

The service aims to provide travel insurance policyholders with immediate access to airport lounges and experiences during flight delays. 

Policyholders qualified for the service must register their flights a minimum of two hours prior to the scheduled departure for those in Singapore, and at least three hours in advance for customers in Malaysia and mainland China to utilise the service. 

Upon experiencing a flight delay, they will receive a digital voucher for immediate access to various airport amenities. 

The service details differ across the three new markets.

In Singapore, policyholders with any Sompo Travel Insurance plan can access the service if their flight delay is at least one hour.  

In Malaysia, the service is available to Sompo TravelSafe+ “Plan Elite A” policyholders for one-hour delays, while “Plan Elite B” holders are eligible for two-hour delays.  

For mainland China, under Sompo TravelJoy, single-trip policyholders can benefit from the service for flight delays of two hours or more.
