Sun Life Financial has appointed Randolph (Randy) Brown as its chief investment officer.
Brown will oversee the investment operations of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada and its general account, which had invested assets of approximately $135bn as at 30 September 2015.
Steve Peacher, president, Sun Life Investment Management said Brown brings considerable global institutional investment expertise that will benefit Sun Life Financial’s investment process.
Peacher said: "In his role, Randy will provide overall strategic direction for the investment of our general account assets and stewardship for our investment team. I expect that Randy’s insights will also be invaluable as we expand our efforts in third-party asset management."
Brown has three decades of investment management experience at global financial institutions.
Since 2007, he held several senior roles at Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, most recently as Global Head of Insurance and Pension Solutions and as Head of Asset and Wealth Management for the UK region.
