American Adventure provides insurance programmes sold through dealerships across vehicle segments including boats, campers, motorcycles, motor homes, personal watercraft and travel trailers.

It also supplies finance and insurance offerings to automotive retailers, and commercial insurance products.

The company is headed by owner Paul Bender, who has more than three decades’ experience working with dealerships on point-of-sale insurance.

Bender said: “Our network of more than 1,500 dealerships, combined with Brown & Brown’s depth of products and expertise, gives our people and partners a platform built to help us scale without losing our edge, and I couldn’t be more excited to build the next chapter with Mike and the BBDS team.”

Following completion, the American Adventure team will join BBDS and continue operating nationwide, with Bender and colleagues reporting to BBDS president Mike Neal.

Founded in 1939, Brown & Brown employs over 23,000 people across more than 700 locations globally.

BBDS president Mike Neal added: “The American Adventure team will expand and enhance BBDS’ capabilities and provide us with additional innovative solutions for our dealers across the country.”

The transaction follows other recent deals in the insurance sector.

Earlier this week, Sixth Street-backed reinsurer Enstar Group agreed to acquire 100% of Accident Fund Holdings (AF Group) from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Lansing-based AF Group has operated in insurance for more than 100 years through multiple affiliated brands.

Last week, Admiral Group reached an agreement to acquire Flock, a digital insurer focused on commercial vehicle fleets, in a deal that valued Flock’s equity at £80m ($109m).
