Howden Re, the reinsurance arm of Howden Group, has appointed David Santos as managing director and Antonio Pombo as director to launch its operations in Iberia.
Both executives will be stationed in Madrid, focusing on the development of Howden Re’s reinsurance services within the region.
According to the company, Santos and Pombo, both joining from Nacional Re, bring a deep understanding of the reinsurance landscape in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
At Nacional Re, Santos held the role of commercial director, while Pombo was responsible for managing client relationships as senior client manager for Iberia.
Santos said: “With Howden Re’s entrepreneurial culture and commitment to long-term investment in the region, we are well placed to deliver innovative, client-first reinsurance solutions. I am proud to lead this next chapter.”
The establishment complements the existing insurance brokerage and managing general agent (MGA) operations of Howden Group in the area, enabling the company to provide an expanded suite of services.
