
MSIG USA has appointed Tony Beirne as its new chief actuary and Dale James as chief risk officer to strengthen analytics and enterprise risk governance.
Beirne joins MSIG USA with more than 20 years of actuarial experience in the commercial insurance sector, including consulting and insurtech.
His most recent position was as chief actuary at Cover Whale, where he led the development of pricing models and predictive analytics.
Beirne’s prior roles include chief actuary and product officer at VoyageWorks, and positions at KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Liberty Mutual.
In his new role, he will head MSIG USA’s actuarial function, which includes responsibilities for reserving, pricing strategy, capital modelling and portfolio analytics.
He will work with the underwriting and finance departments to support decision-making processes within the company.

By GlobalDataJames brings more than two decades of experience in risk management, capital management and corporate finance.
His previous role was vice-president, corporate finance and chief risk officer at Alleghany Corp, where he managed risk governance including the oversight of catastrophe exposure, capital adequacy and reinsurance counterparty risk.
James also worked at Goldman Sachs, JMMB and NCB Insurance.
As chief risk officer at MSIG USA, James will manage enterprise risk management strategy.
His duties encompass risk governance, compliance oversight and business continuity planning, with a focus on integrating risk awareness into the company’s decision-making processes and enhancing operational resilience.
Both Beirne and James will report to MSIG USA CEO Peter McKenna.

This follows the appointment in January of Siobhan O’Brien as the head of cyber insurance at MSIG USA.
