The industry’s overall hiring increased by 10.45% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the insurance industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.04% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.56% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 41.9% in September 2021, registering a 9.64% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 35.2% share, an increase of 75% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.53%, registering an 188.89% rise from August 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.38%, up 15.38% over the previous month.
Top five insurance companies in South Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of South Africa’s insurance industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Sanlam posted 115 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 32.18% over the previous month, followed by Discovery with 51 jobs and a 13.33% growth. Old Mutual with 10 IT jobs and Rand Merchant Investment Holdings with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.69%, up by 9.62% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.82% share, registered an increase of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.5% share, up 750% over August 2021.
