Starr Insurance Companies has launched Starr Gate, a new general, usage-based aviation policy for pilots.
This policy offers flexibility to pilots who rent aircraft with for their insurance needs by providing high-definition underwriting and usage-based pricing.
Until now, pilots did not have ‘real flexibility’ in their insurance coverage and often paid for coverage they didn’t need, the company noted.
Starr Insurance Companies chairman and CEO Maurice Greenberg said: “This product is a significant innovation for Starr.
“For the thousands of pilots around the US, it’s a smarter way to get coverage. We’re leveraging technology to enhance safety and tailor coverage to match the market’s actual needs.”
The programme also includes the ability to access cloud-based pilot analytics tool CloudAhoy for a potential discount on the premium.
