Commenting on the appointment, JLT Re managing director, Alistair Lockhart-Smith, said: "Henry has 30 years of reinsurance experience in Asia. He has been involved in a range of reinsurance classes and sectors – marine, non-marine, personal accident, motor, and liability. He is particularly recognized for his pioneering efforts in building the agricultural reinsurance business in China, when the government started subsidizing the sector in 2004".

Henry has experience in the reinsurance field, and has worked predominantly for one company. He joined Lowndes Lambert Reinsurance (FE) Limited, which became HHL Re in 1989, and subsequently Aon.

"Henry is not new to the JLT organization. After graduating from Hong Kong Polytechnic, he joined Jardine Matheson Insurance Brokers (JMIB) as a Graduate Trainee during the period July 1980 to August 1982, where he overlapped with, Alastair Speare-Cole, now CEO of JLT Re. We are pleased to welcome Henry back to the JLT family where he will add considerable depth and strength to our reinsurance practice," Smith added.

JLT Re provides its clients – insurance and reinsurance companies including Lloyd’s syndicates – with advice and solutions to protect their capital and enhance their shareholders’ value.
